Announcing
summer of 2004’s indie-rock music series Metro Melancholy (San
Diego, CA - June 22nd 2004) starting off at Caffiends Lounge. One of
several downtown venues slated to host shows through out June, July,
and possibly the month of August. By aligning touring bands with some
of San Diego’s up-and-coming acts, the series will bring audiences
an alternative nightlife in the Gaslamp.

The
demos are in, so let us begin by listing just some of the bands on the
bill for Metro Melancholy. The UPSIDEDOWN from Portland, OR are starting
out on a summer tour and will be playing July 2nd at The Rosary Room.
Their debut album “Trust Electricity” will be released July
20th on Reverb Records. This glamed-up, ambient rock band brings a unique
danceable sound.

A
band from Reno, NV will be the touring act at The Rosary Room on July
23rd during the weekend of Comic Con. Recently featured in Reno News &
Review (online) in an article about the wave of blues and ‘80’s
revivalists amid the indie-music scene, May Harpoon was mentioned as putting
out “solid, original music” that is “melodic, crisp,
metallic and filled with unusual things; this isn’t your grandson’s
fuzzy three-cord pop-punk.” |

|
|
Metro
Melancholy will also feature local bands Republic of Letters, General
Darby, Cilantro, Japanese Sunday and experimental performance projects
by The Mean-Nothings and Cosmic Ghetto.
